Surface - I'll send you a link later - can't do it at the moment.

You do realise Corbyn would never travel 1st class. His expenses also happen to be the lowest of anyone in parliament. He may be many things but I don't believe he is a liar or corrupt. His support for the IRA is awkward, unless you start looking into the history of how the British treated the Irish, but even that isn't a full excuse. But he certainly doesn't fit into this "old boys' network" that was mentioned earlier.

Who are these independent witnesses, mate?

As for why they offered Corbyn 1st class seats I'd hazard a guess it was because the Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition was abusing his position by kicking up a fuss about seats he deliberately hadn't bothered to reserve.

What part of it is bollocks?

And if Jezza is meant to be any sort of leader he should have ordered 1st class tickets beforehand. I'm sure he had work to be getting on with which having to sit on the floor may have interfered with. Or maybe he just made it all up for attention. Either way it's all his own doing.

Re: I hate Shami Chakrabaty.
mashed - that is such complete and utter fucking bollocks. You really have been listening to too many blinkered, paranoid Americans who think that anything slightly to the left of Ronald Reagan is socialist.

Surface - so how come there are independent witnesses who say that there were plenty of other people sitting on the floor as well as Corbyn. Also Virgin Trains offered him 1st class but he turned it down - why would they do that if there were 2 seats together for them in standard class? He admits that shortly after the photo was taken they upgraded some other passengers to 1st class so he and his wife could sit together.

Wansteadman, Norway set up a sovereign wealth fund in order to benefit from NS oil and gas revenues. Care to speculate as to why the UK never did the same?

Re: I hate Shami Chakrabaty.
Norway is the fifth biggest oil exporter in the world with a population of only 5m which is why they can be a generous socialist type country. They can spread the oil revenue round the country as it's owned by the govt not an Arab family or hived off by corrupt leaders

I'm not comparing Corbyn to any of the dictators of the previous century. I'm saying they share an ideology and that the ideology is the single most destructive force in human history. Which is 100% true.

Actually, 'the Daily Mail' has fuck all to do with it. He did 'lie about sitting on the floor of the train'.

He had himself filmed sitting on the floor of a train when there were plenty of available seats.

He did, when caught out, wriggle and lie about there not being two seats available for him and his missus to sit together in, but Virgin then released a video showing that to be bollocks too.

Not really, it's just more institutionalised in the West. Think "Old Boy's Network", then move out from there.

In places like SE Asia, even if your face don't fit, you can usually find a willing recipient and get what you want (such as a government contract). In the west, you have to have the righyt connections, the right family tree, a degree from "an approved" university.

I could go on...

...In fact I do.

Often.

Too bloody often.

mashed - he didn't lie about sitting on the floor of a train, if you read the whole story instead of the Daily Mail headline. But if you choose to persist in comparing him to monsters who have killed millions then I give up on you as a hopeless nutjob.

Re: I hate Shami Chakrabaty.
So you are entrusting the duty of switching the UK from a modern western capitalist democracy to a socialist utopia to a man who is so honest and principled that he changes his mind on Brexit every 5 minutes, supported the IRA, and lied about sitting on the floor of a train.

It's not paranoid to be a bit sceptical of your worldview tbf. Especially when you're advocating an ideology that wiped out countless tens of millions of people in the last century and are pinning all your hopes on Jeremy Corbyn.

And you think corruption's NOT a way of life in the UK?

You really need to get out more.

the exile 4:20 Tue Dec 12
Re: I hate Shami Chakrabaty.
I never said they were out-and-out socialist. Neither would we be under Corbyn. But as I said before, they undoubtedly have socialist elements in the way they run things, e.g. high taxation and a big investment in services. As for Venezuela, as I mentioned before, you're conveniently ignoring the human element. I have no doubt that there were some excellent principles and theories behind what Chavez set out to do over there, and that is clearly what Corbyn and others would have expressed admiration for. But Chavez turned out to be a corrupt and autocratic despot, not because he was a socialist but because he was a weak human being and the product of a culture in which corruption is a way of life, whatever the political leanings of whichever political party happens to be in power. Totally different ball-game over here, but with your paranoia and myopia you don't seem capable of appreciating that.

Re: I hate Shami Chakrabaty.
The Nordic countries aren't socialist. And if you think Sweden is "stable" then you're mistaken. And you don't know what Corbyn would do as he hasn't done it yet, but since he's actually said he admires Venezuela I'd take that more seriously as one of his intentions than what someone on the internet says thankyou very much.
